Xi Jinping provides a theoretical explanation of the reasons why we must stick to Marxism in guiding the development of philosophy and social sciences in three aspects. First,in a historical perspective,it conforms to the development trend of human history as an inevitable result of China's historical progress and a conclusion based on the lessons from world socialism. Second,it is rooted in reality as an embodiment of realistic inevitability,the practical needs of the Communist Party and the people,and the mission of philosophy and social sciences in China. Denying such guiding role of Marxism would lead to disastrous consequences. Third,it has its theoretical basis. Marxism as a scientific theory constitute an important resource for the prosperity of philosophy and social sciences with its views,stance,methodology and functions. Through innovation in both theory and practice,Xi Jinping presents a comprehensive interpretation of the guiding position of Marxism as the unity of general law and concrete goals,legitimacy and rationality. A model of both inheritance and innovation must stick to Marxism as a spiritual weapon to resist various false reasoning and misleading theories,as well as fundamental guideline for the prosperity of philosophy and social sciences.
