为了帮助国内修辞学家了解中国修辞如何在美国成为比较修辞学研究的热点,本文对中国修辞在美国的研究历史进行系统的评介,介绍了研究概况并梳理了中国修辞在美国的研究方法的演变过程:从一开始套用西方模式到后来修正西方模式再到现在用中国修辞特有的研究方法来重构西方修辞学研究模式。同时,本文还分析了三大研究焦点:1)中国修辞有无逻辑;2)中国修辞有无口头论辩传统;3)中国修辞有无女性修辞理论。最后,本文对中国修辞在美国的未来发展进行了展望。

This paper attempts to show how Chinese rhetoric has become the focus of comparative rhetoric in America. It first introduces the history and the development of the Chinese rhetoric studies in America. Then it reviews the evolution of the Chinese rhetoric research methods in America, which includes three periods, i. e. 1） employing the Western models directly, 2） modifying the Western models, and 3） reconstructing the Western models with the particular Chinese rhetoric research methods. In addition, the paper also analyses the three themes such as whether there is the logical reasoning, the tradition of oral argument and the theory of feminine rhetoric in Chinese rhetoric. Finally, this paper presents the visions for the development of Chinese rhetoric in America.
