Interface Properties of English Presentational Sentences

英语中的there呈现句属于NP后置结构,涉及较为复杂的界面制约条件。从语义方面来说,呈现句的谓语动词主要由作格动词充当,但这种作格制约也受句子内部结构的影响;另一方面,呈现句也需要遵循信息编码的基本原则,符合语言交际的认知规律。

There- presentational sentences in English are syntactically characterized by post-posed subject NPs, in-volving complex interface constraints. Semantically,only unaccusative verbs can appear in presentational sentences, but the unaccusative restriction is also affected by internal structure of the sentences. In addition, presentational sentences should be structured in accordance with the principles of information coding and decoding,observing the cognitive motivation in language communication.
