Exploring the foundation of Confucian Classics:Cao Yuanbi's study of The Book of Filial Piety

在晚清民国经学中,曹元弼是最重要的代表人物之一。曹元弼遍注群经,构建了一个庞大的学术体系。而在他的经学思想中,他通过注解《孝经》,为其经学理论奠定了基础。他继承郑玄的思想,认为《孝经》是六经之道的总汇。在曹元弼看来,六经之道,在于人伦,而《孝经》恰恰提供了这一人伦思想的核心。同时,他认为通过《孝经》中的"爱"与"敬",可以贯通百王之道,六经之法。

Cao Yuanbi was one of the representative Confucian scholars in the late Qing dynasty. Cao established his ideological system by interpreting a number of Confucian Classics. The annotations of The Book of Filial Piety provided a foundation for his ideology. Cao agreed with Zheng Xuan's viewpoint that The Book of Filial Piety was a fusion of all Confucian Classics. According to him,the core of Confucianism was ethics,and The Book of Filial Piety offered a basis for ethics. He also held that the idea of 'love'and 'respect'in The Book of Filial Piety were universal rules running through the whole Confucian Classics and were accepted by all the governors in history.
