The research progress in synthesis of the hydrotalcite-like catalysts and their characteristics was summarized, and the application of this kind of materials in catalytic hydrogenation was reviewed. The problems in the application in commercial production and the future developing directions of hydrotalcites- like catalysts were discussed.
