唐李敬实墓志详细叙述了李敬实在会昌中密宣诏命于天德军招降回纥,往天井关监戎剿灭刘稹,繁荣岭南市舶司以及任职内园栽接使和军器使等事件,史料价值极高,弥补了正史之阙失。据此考证个别使职的设置时间,分析大中末年的政治局势,并与近年出土的墓志相参证,对研究唐代中层宦官世家有着重要意义。

The Epitaph of Li Jingshi ,the Former Governor of the Arsenal of the Tang Dynasty tells in detail how Li Jingshi exterminates Liu Zhen at Tianjing,makes Po-Si in Lingnan prosper,and is appoint- ed as Governor of Gardening and Governor of the Arsenal, which fills the gap in the recorded history. This epitaph offers a reference both to the study of the time of the establishment of some positions and the anal- ysis on the political situation at the end of the Year of Dazhong. A comparison is made between this epitaph and other ones unearthed in recent years, which is significant to the study of eunuch families of the Tang Dynasty.
