抗日战争时期,随着文化重心的西移,西南大后方一个庞大的知识分子群体应运而生。中共中央南方局针对国内外特殊复杂的斗争环境,始终坚持贯彻并创造性地执行党的路线方针政策,高举抗日民族统一战线旗帜,广泛开展文化统一战线工作,制止了中国国民党反共分裂活动,保证抗战大后方的文化界进步力量始终占主导优势。同时,这一时期中共对知识分子的统战工作也培养了一批文艺工作和宣传工作的优秀人才,为新中国成立初期中国共产党文化事业的发展打下了基础。

During the period of Anti-Japanese War, with the westward movement of the cultural center, a large group of intellectuals came into being at the rear of the southwest china. Aiming at the complex and complicated struggle environment at home and abroad, the southern bureau of the CPC Central Committee always adhered to and creatively carried out the Party＇s lines, principles and policies and hold high the banner of Anti-Japanese national united front. The bureau extensively carried out the work of cultural united front, stopped the Kuomintang＇s anti- Communist spilt activities. The bureau also guaranteed the progressive forces of the cultural field in the rear area of Anti-Japanese War to be in a dominant position. At the same time, the united front work of intellectuals in this period also cultivated a group of excel- lent talents in literature and art and propaganda work, which laid a foundation for the development of the Chinese Communist Party＇s cultural undertakings in the early years of new China.
