起动和环流是交流电动机的两大害:起动是公害,环流是私害。定子绕组采取何种接法,是两害相权取其轻的结果。考虑到起动危害,大中型电动机一般采用角接绕组。考虑到环流危害,小型电动机一般采用星接绕组。

The starting and circulating current are two harms of A. C. motors, and the starting is of common harm and the circulating current is of private harm. Which connection of stator windings should be chosen is the result of taking advantage of the two evils. Considering the harm of starting, large-and middle-sized motors usually adopt A-connection. Considering the harm of circulating current, small-sized motors usually adopt Y-connection.
