Objective:To explore whether the implicit inter--group attitude significantly predict the degree of own --race advantage in face recognition. Methods:The traditional "learning--recognition" paradigm was used for assess- ing in144 Uygur and Kazak's ability to recognize own--race faces and other--race faces. The interracial implicit atti- tude is evaluated by the affect misattribution procedure(AMP). Results: Simple effect analysis showed that the Uygurs did not reflect own--race advantage on accurate rate, while the Kazaks presented significant own--race ad- vantage(F=8.93,P 〈0.01). Meanwhile both the Uygurs and the Kazaks performed more positive judgments to- wards their own faces than other faces (F = 54.92,6.93 ; P〈0.01 ). Regression analysis showed that the interracial implicit attitude reduced the effect size of own--race advantage in face recognition of the whole participants(F = 4.28,P〈0.05).Conclusion: The group size may be an important fact to influence the own--race advantage in face recognition. The implicit inter--group attitude can predict the facial own--race advantage stably.
