Objective To observe and compare the clinical effect of warm gutta-percha condensation method and cold lateral condensation on chronic pulpitis and periapical periodontitis. Methods 192 cases with chronic pulpitis and periapical periodontitis was chosen as the research object. They were randomly divided into two groups, 96 cases in each group. heat gutta percha vertical condensation technique was used for the treatment of warm gutta percha group, and cold lateral condensation method was used for treatment of cold side group, All cases were compared about the effects of root canal filling, the clinical efficacy, periodontal pain incidence and root pain incidence. Results In the warm gutta percha group, the total effective rate was 95.83%, which was significantly higher than that in the cold side group which was 82.29%, and the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.05); In the warm gutta percha group, the effect of root canal filling was better than that in the cold side group, the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.05); In the warm gutta percha group, bleeding index, gingival Index and periodontal pocket depth significantly were better than those in the cold side group, the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.05). Conclusion Compared with cold lateral condensation method, the effect of heat gutta percha vertical condensation method in the treatment of chronic pulpitis and periapical periodontitis is more significant, and it can relieve periodontal pain and periapical pain of patients, so it has important clinical value.
