Objective To analyze mercury in direct drinking water, source water and Tap water in ten districts of Ordos and Yulin in order to explore the trend of the mercury of drinking water of Ordos plateau and its surrounding areas and provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of heavy metal poisoning events in drinldng water. Methods 68 samples of sources water, 220 samples of tap water and 32 samples of direct drinking water samples were analyzed by AFS-230E dual channel atomic fluorescence photometer. Results In 2013-2014 we detected 320 samples, there was only one source water sample exceed the standard, and the other samples are in line with the national standard requirements. The detection rate of mercury in source water was 67.65%, 45.91% in Tap water, and 65.63% in direct drinking water. In the 320 samples, the average content of mercury in source water, tap water and direct drinking water was respectively 0.163 g/L, 0.12 g/L and 0.148 g/L. The average content of mercury in source water of 4~6 month water, 7-9 months and 10-12 months was respectively 0.147 g/L, 0.233 g/L, and 0. lg/L. Conclusion The mercury content in summer is higher than other time. From the results of the mercury content and mean detection rate of mercury of source water, tap water and direct drinking water results, we could see that the mercury content of tap water was significantly lower than that of source water.
