The Women's Destinies in a Male Administered World——Analysis of the Women Characters in Lao She's Earlier Novels

本文通过对老舍早期小说的分析,从中提炼出四种女性形象:忍辱负重而难逃厄运的女性,强悍粗暴无法主宰命运的女性,在传统意识和个性解放之间挣扎的女性,冲破传统枷锁却找不到出路的新女性,挖掘出老舍意识深处的男权视角,从而解读中国女性的命运及老舍对西方个性主义思想的认识和态度。

This essay is an attempt to understand the perspectives of the male power in Lao She's insight and explain the fates of Chinese women through the analysis of the Women's Characters in Lao She's earlier works, which include those who endured hard burdens and couldn't escape from the misfortune, those who were doughty and rough but couldn't decide their own destinies, those who struggled between the conventional concept and personal freedom, and those who had smashed the bonds of tradition but couldn't find a way out. In the meanwhile, this essay also analyzed Lao She's understanding and attitude to the individualism of the western world.
