作品虽名之以《断魂枪》,但实际上是以“断魂枪”来写“魂断人”,关注的是沙子龙在复杂变动时代的心理走向以及命运姿态,并由此传达了老舍对那些“老中国儿女们”生存状态的关注以及发掘一种理想生命状态的努力。

Although the work is called DuanHunQiang, it emphasizes the psychological tendency and the destiny of Sha Zilong, the main character, in the complicated turbulent years. Though this expressed Lao She's concern for the living condition of those'old fashioned Chinese People'and the strive for seeking an ideal living state.
