在大学英语翻译教学中,习语的翻译一直是学生的难题。其原因是学习者对于习语的认识仅仅局限于对其字面意义的掌握,而忽略了习语本身的文化背景和语源。本文从十个方面对习语进行了语源分析和阐述,将习语的出现和分类加以总结.
English idioms play a very important part in English learning. English learners should notonly pay attention to the meaning but the derivation of an idiom. Thus for an English teacher, it is vitally im-portant to make the students know the origin of an idiom. In this article, a brief analysis of the derivations ofEnglish idioms is made from ten aspects .
