Some Comments on Culture and Translation

翻译被认为是一种跨文化的交际行为。译者具有一定的跨文化交际能力才能使译文准确得体,因此作为一个合格的翻译者,在精通两种语言的基本知识基础上,还必须了解并熟知中西方文化的背景差异,才能使得译文达到“最近似的自然等值”。

Translation is considered as a cross-cultural communication. Cross-cultural awareness is thebasic requirement for an interpreter. So a qualified interpreter should not only master the basic knowledge oflangnges, but also know the different cultural backgrounds between China and Western countries, so as tomake the translations exact and proper.
