A Survey of Relationship between Language and Culture in the Teaching of Foreign Languages

本文在介绍语言和文化的定义的基础上,论述语言与文化的关系,在整个文化(物质文化、制度文化和观念文化)中语言文化的定位——语言文化的特殊性。其特殊性表现在语言的命名功能(包括物质命名,性质、动作、行为命名及创造性命名)和语言的存储功能(包括无序世界的有序化和对客观世界的述说功能)。最后,抛砖引玉式地探讨了对日语教学中的文化因素方面的问题。

This paper discusses the relationship between language and culture on the basis of definitions of language and culture respectively, and it makes a further analysis of the position——the special character- istics of a language in the related culture in the whole cultural system (material culture, institutional culture, ideological culture). The particularity of the language is manifested in the naming function (including naming of substance, nature, action, behavior and other creative nominations) and the storing function (including the sequencing of unordered world and the narrating function). Finally, the paper makes a probe into the cultural factors in Japanese language teaching activities in hope of getting valuable opinions by offering a few per- sonal points.
