在中国已被卷入世界经济一体化的今天,中西方文化也呈现出全球化交流的趋势。然而随着西方文化的传入,在中国的英语学习者身上出现了中西文化失衡的现象:对英美文化所知甚多,而对自己国家的文化却知之甚少,有学者将这种现象定义为"中国文化失语"。语言是文化的载体,在全球化交流的环境下,英语理应成为传播中国文化的有效载体。此时英语教学作为大多数人了解西方文化的主要渠道,其重要性自然不言而喻。本文旨在通过教学方法、教材、学习方法以及教师素质等几个方面来探讨如何均衡英语教学中中西方文化的传播。

With China involved in the global economic integration, Sino-Western culture also shows the tendency of the global communication. With the introduction of western culture, in China the cultural unbalance is shown on the English learners who know a lot about western culture, yet knows little about Chinese culture.This phenomenon is called'Chinese Culture Aphasia'by some scholars. Language is the carrier of culture, so under the condition of the global communication English should be the effective carrier of transmitting Chinese culture. English teaching is the main medium of learning western culture for most people, so its importance is self-evident. This paper aims at discussing how to balance the transmission of Sino-Western Culture in English teaching from such aspects as teaching method, textbook, learning method and the quality of teachers.
