The artistic characteristics of the songs of Chu by the imperial family in Han dynasty are the strong tragic feature and the harmonious state of song, music and dance, which have bearing on the tremendous pain in political life, the prevailing custom that people regarded tragedy as aesthetic feeling and the tragic factor that the Chu culture contains itself. In the meanwhile the harmonious state of the song, music and dance in the Songs of Chu, the prevailing custom of music in Han dynasty and the demand of expressing their emotions fully are also the reasons. There are three reasons for their singing. First, they thought fondly of their mother culture. Second, the brutal political situation provided them with source of song. Finally, they had better literary accomplishments and sincere feeling.
