The strategic location of the South Pacific leads to the situation that it has been an ocean with intense competition and influence from the world’s maritime powers since the 16th century.In recent years,countries outside the South Pacific have continued to strengthen economic,political and even military presence there.Russia did same thing,too.It’s activities included increasing economic aid and investment to the South Pacific islands and deepening military technical cooperation with them.The strategic intentions of Russia’s step into the South Pacific region and its impact on the region geopolitical strategic situation will be studied in depth.
