Buildability: As the Necessary Tension between Environmental Management & Building Mode A Case Study on the Architectural Value of Hoffmann Kiln in China

对分布于中国各地文大区的218个使用霍夫曼窑的粘土砖瓦生产点进行调查,并考察人造之物的工艺环境和造物之人的工作环境这两方面的环境调控需求。通过其相应达成方式的分析,确证环境调控是目标,建造模式是手段,易建性考量作为二者间的必要张力,不断干预和修正其互动过程,并最终指向累积性、系统性的环境适应和技术流动。

Based on a survey of 218 clay brick and tile factories using Hoffmann kilns throughout China, it examines environmental management as required by crafts and craftsmen. Through an analysis of the means of realization, it reassures environmental management as the target, building mode as the method, and buildability as the necessary tension between the above two with continuous intervention and correction of the interactive, which finally leads to the cumulative, systematic environmental adaptation and technical circulation.
