With a brief introduction of the development of 'Byronic Hero' in the works of Byron, the world-renowned poet in English romantic period, the paper makes an attempt to argue that the essence of 'Byronic Hero' is not only the individualism which was prevail- ing at that period, but, more important, the humanism contained within.
