A Semantic Approach to English Euphemism

委婉语在人们的日常生活中起着非常重要的作用,因此正确、巧妙地使用英语委婉语可以帮助人们顺利地进行跨文化交际。该论文着重从语义学的角度分析委婉语。围绕论文主题,文章分成三部分展开。第一部分介绍委婉语,第二部分是主体,以具体实例从语义学角度分析委婉语的两个特征,扬升性以及模糊性,第三部分是总结,重申英语委婉语的重要作用,倡导英语专业学生重视实际运用语言的能力。

Euphemism plays an important role in people's daily life.So using euphemism properly and artfully can help us carry on communication smoothly.This paper will analyze euphemism from the perspective of semantics.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part deals with the introduction of English euphemism and literature.The second part focuses on the two main semantic features of euphemism,including glorying euphemism and vague euphemism.The last part gives a conclusion.It restates the theme and appeals to us to pay more attention to euphemism.
