The interpersonal function is one of the three metafunctions of functional linguistics.It means that people use language to communicate with other members of the society and show their own opinions and attitudes,in order to establish and maintain interpersonal relationship.Based on the Mood of interpersonal function,this research paper is intended to make an analysis of a passage in Chapter One of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.The purpose of it is to explain how the Mood construes the interpersonal meaning in the interaction between the two characters.
