Enlightenments for College English Writing on the Discourse Differences between English and Chinese

英汉两种语言在语篇方面存在着巨大的差异,这些差异给大学英语写作教学带来了巨大的挑战,给大学生的英语写作造成了诸多困难。文章以英汉语篇差异的两个具有代表性的方面——语篇衔接之形合与意合和语篇结构之开门见山与含蓄曲折为切入点,详细分析英汉语篇的差异,并从差异中总结出有益于大学英语写作教学的相关启示。

There are great differences between English and Chinese in terms of discourse. These differences challenge the teaching of college English writing and bring a number of difficulties to students' writing. Based on the two typical aspects of discourse differences between English and Chinese: the parataxis and hypotactic of discourse cohesion and the directness and indirectness of discourse structure, this paper analyzes the discourse differences between English and Chinese in detail and concludes the enlightenments benefiting the teaching of college English writing.
