从英汉语名词复数看“形合”与“意合”的相对性

On the Relativity of Hypotaxis and Parataxis by Analyzing the Plural Form of Chinese and English

一般认为,英语名词的复数可以通过词尾的屈折变化得以实现,而汉语名词的复数不具备这种屈折变化,这种差异也就充分体现了英语的形合性和汉语的意合性。该文试图通过对"形合"、"意合"两大概念的界定与分析,结合数念与数形的区别,着重阐释英、汉语名词复数系统中,汉语名词复数所表现出的"形合性"和英语名词复数所表现出的"意合性",从而论证"形合"与"意合"的相对性。

It is known that, in English, the plural form of nouns could be achieved through the inflection, while, in Chinese, such inflection does not exist, as a result, English is regarded to be hypothesis, however, Chinese to be parataxis. This paper attempts to, at first, defining and analyzing what is hypotaxis and parataxis, and then combining the differences of notion and form of plural system both in Chinese and English, explore the hypotaxis of Chinese and parataxis of English. By such analyzing, the relativity of hypotaxis and parataxis could be proved.
