从语域理论略论《红楼梦》中人物语言的翻译

摘要 Halliday和Hasan认为语言将随功能的变化而发生变化,这种由用途区分的语言变体就是语域,语域对等理论在指导翻译实践中起者非常重要的作用[1]。语域包含着三个变量因素即:语场、语式和语旨。语场指语言发生的环境;语式指语言交际的渠道或媒介;语旨指参与者之间的关系。该研究浅谈了这三方面在《红楼梦》翻译中的重要指导作用,并指出在翻译过程中,译者必须注意使译文能表现原文的语域特征,能恰当地表达原文所赖以产生的情景语境,使译文与原文实现语域对等。 Halliday and Hasan thought that language may change with its function. Such language variant divided by functions is called register. Register theory plays an important in directing translation practices. Register contains three variants: field, mode and tenor. Field refers to the circumstance where the language or conversation happens; mode refers to the communicative media or channels and tenor refers to the inter-relationship between speakers. The paper discussed the important directive functions of these three aspects in the Chinese-English translation of Hong Lou Meng. The writer points that translator must make sure that the target version should represent the register characteristics of the original version as well the original context. Finally the target text can realize the register equivalence with the original text.
