论《徳伯家的苔丝》中神秘色彩的描写手法(英文)

Mystical Descriptive Techniques Used in Tess of the d'Urbervilles

哈代是十九世纪英国批判现实主义的最后一名代表作家,他不能认识到社会变化的真正根源,也找不到社会未来的真正出路;而是把人类悲剧的命运归为主宰人类命运的"内在意识",让读者们在读这篇小说时都感到一种灰朦朦的色彩在眼前。显然作品给人以这种印象的写作技巧是独到的。但是,作者究竟用了什么样的手法以及怎样运用这些手法,达到如此的艺术效果呢?笔者认为,作者是运用意象、恶兆、神话(圣经)故事和荒古实物及环境的描写来达到给人以神秘色彩的目的的。该文以作品中的实例,谈一下这些手法的运用。

Thomas Hardy is the last famous representative of critic realism of England in the 19th century.He can't find out the real origin of the social change and the way towards the future of the society,so he owes the reasons of people's misery to the 'inner will' which controls the fate of human beings.For such reasons when reading the novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles,many readers feel obscure as if there were something presented before the eyes.How does the writer use these mystical descriptive techniques to make such a mysterious effect? This paper analyzes the uses of mystical descriptive techniques such as:image,omens of bad luck,fairy tale(Bible) and environmental description based on examples in the novel.
