As the one of most important African American authors after the second world war,Ralph Ellison's Invisible man won the National Book Award.The author penetrated the soul of the jazz or blues into his work based on his mastery of the black music which displays the distinctive characteristics in his Invisible Man.By analyzing the characteristics of music and parts of jazz and blues,the purpose is to combine the music into the process of searching the identify of the protagonist and display the self-recognition of his identity that shows the significant meaning of music to the African Americans.
