This paper reflects on the eighteenth century British novelist Henry Fielding's masterpiece Tom Jones. By analyzing the change of Mr. Allworthy's attitude toward Tom Jones, and exploring the weaknesses of human nature in Mr. Allworthy,this paper questions the status of Mr.Allworthy as a moral paragon, and concludes that Tom Jones and Sophia Western are the new moral templates.
