摘要
The functonal approach,with its focuses on the function or functions of texts and translation,has played a mjor role in the development of translation studies.Despite its major contributions,the approach also involves some inherent limitations.This paper discusses the functionalist approach in depth.By analyzing the ideas of major functionalists,i.e.Reiss's text type and language function,Holz-Manttari's model of translation action,Vermeer's Skopos theory and Nord's explanation of functionalist approaches,the paper provides a critical review of this approach,aiming for a better understanding of this approach.
