A Mercy is the ninth novel of Toni Morrison, who won the Nobel Prize in 1993. Employing intertextual theory from Juliet Kreistivea, this thesis attempts to analyze the intertextualities between A Mercy and Beloved. By dissecting the similar plots and characters, themes and images, and employed narrative strategies, it explores the great significance of intertextualities on understanding of the novel.
