该文从形象和心理两个方面将詹姆斯.乔伊斯本人与他的小说《死者》中的主人公加布里埃尔做了对比,指出乔伊斯在极大程度上是以自我复制的方式塑造了加布里埃尔这个人物。乔伊斯不仅是将自己的相貌和人生经历移植在加布里埃尔身上;更为重要的是,他是在通过小说主人公来深刻剖析着他自己的内心世界——对祖国和故乡的爱与痛,以及对生与死的深思。

This paper compares James·Joyce the novelist himself with Gabriel the hero in James·Joyce's novel The Dead in appearance,life experience and inner world,which proves adequately that Joyce,to a large extent,portrayed the hero Gabriel in the way of self-duplication.That is to say that Joyce shifted his own appearance and life experience to the hero Gabriel.And more important is that through the hero Gabriel Joyce laid bare the inner world of his own:his strong mixed feelings of hate and love for his motherland and homeland,and his deep thought on the issue of life and death.
