On the Translation of Phenomenon from the Perspective of Collocation

近年来,现象一词在汉语中被频繁地用来构成自由搭配,在这些搭配的汉译过程中,有可能出现因超额翻译而导致的目的语表达的不自然。对此种情况的探讨将有助于译者采用适当的翻译策略,从而提高译文的质量。

Phenomenon, a word frequently used to form a free collocation in Chinese language, may, in some way, give rise to unnaturalness in the expression of a target language, due to its overtranslation. In this paper, a preliminary discussion and the relevant translation strategies are presented in order to attract people's attention and improve the quality of a translated text.
