The Importance of Words Choosing and Language Style:A Comparative Study of Two Chinese Versions of Bacon's Essays

为了很好地把散文从英文翻译成中文,应该了解散文的文体特征以及散文翻译的特点。根据散文翻译的特点,可以得知在散文翻译中选词和语言风格是非常重要的。论文力图比较并分析弗兰西斯.培根论文集的两个中文译本,它们分别由曹明伦和何新翻译。依据英文原文的文体特征重点强调语义及美感,分别对两个译本的品质进行比较与分析,得到一定意义的结论。

In order to translate the prose from English to Chinese,we should know the stylistic features of the prose and the features of prose translation.According to the features of prose translation,words choosing and language style are of great significance in prose translation.The paper endeavors to compare and analyze two Chinese translations of the essays of Francis Bacon by Cao Minlun and He Xin.The merits of each translation are assessed on the basis of the features of prose translation,which lays stress on the semantic quality and aesthetic sense underlying the stylistic features of the source text.
