From "Chinglish" to "China English"

该文探讨了中式英语和中国英语产生的原因及表现形式以及两者之间的区别与联系。分析认为,中式英语是一种不规范或不符合英语文化的畸形英语,是由英语学习者和使用者受母语的干扰和影响所致;而中国英语是规范英语,是英语在国际化过程中与中国特有语言文化接触融合的产物,具有典型的中国文化内涵,对跨文化交际有着重要的影响及推动作用。虽然二者之间有很大差异,但并无严格的界限,在某种程度上,中式英语的一些说法是可以转化为中国英语,这种转化将有利于我们更准确地使用英语传播中国文化,促进跨文化交际。

This article discusses the main causes and manifestations of Chinglish and China English. Meanwhile, it mentions their relations as well as their differences. It is argued that Chinglish is the misshapen, hybrid language that shows the interference or influence of Chinese. It is the use of a native language pattern or rule which leads to an error or inappropriate form in the target language. Compared to that, China English is normative but with typical Chinese cultural contents. It is the product of the blend of English and Chinese culture in the process of the globalization of English language, facilitating the communication between China and other countries. In spite of the great differences between Chinglish and China English, there is no clear line of demarcation between them. For example, some Chinglish, which was considered unacceptable in the past, has been absorbed into China English and become part of the normative English. Therefore, the study of the contrast between Chinglish and China English can help us to communicate in English our Chinese culture to foreigners in an appropriate way, and thus promote cross-cultural communication between China and other countries.
