"瞧"放在动词后的用法最早出现在《红楼梦》中,此时,"瞧"已经不再用作动词。考察"瞧"的古义与今义、语法化的路径及机制,从而了解"瞧"作为语气助词的来源及演变过程。"瞧"作为语气助词在方言中使用得最为频繁。

The use of ＂Qiao＂which is put behind verbs appears earliest in the novel A Dream in Red Mansions. In this structure, ＂Qiao＂can＇tbe used as a verb. By reviewing the meanings of ＂Qiao＂ in ancient times and at present, and by investigating the path and mechanism ofgrammaticalization about ＂Qiao＂ , we know the origin and evolution of ＂Qiao＂ as a modal particle, and this use can be frequently seen indialect.
