入住养老院的老年人中,女性居多,高龄老人居多,丧偶的居多,患有各种慢性病的居多,入住养老院之前空巢和独居的居多。超过四成的老人是因为生活不能自理,家里没有人照顾才选择入住养老院的。但在入住老人中,生活完全能够自理、不需要护理人员照料的老人也占四成以上。养老院为入住老人提供的服务是多方面的,对养老院养老服务的满意度总体上比较高。多数老人的子女会每周去养老院看望一次以上,但也有部分老人的子女很少或基本上没有到养老院看望过。

The majority of the elderly living in the nursing homes consists of women, the very old ones, the widowed, those suffering from chronic diseases, and those living in the empty nest or living alone before coming to the nursing homes. More than forty percent of the elderly have to choose to stay in nursing homes because they＇re unable to take care of themselves and no family members can take care of them. But there are also someone who can look after themselves and have no need for special care, which accounting for more than forty percent. The service provided for the elderly is multifaceted, and the satisfaction rate overall is relatively high. Most of the elderly can receive the visit from their children more than once a week, but there also some who have rarely or never receive any visit from their children.
