In order to meet the requirements that modem ships develop towards high-speed and large scale, exhaust gas turbocharger are widely used in diesel engine as main power device to increase the output power. As one of the common faults, surging of turbocharger often happens on marine diesel engine. In this article, two kinds of treatment are introduced to turboeharger surging, the fault tree is built up on the basis of its mechanism, the fault cause is analyzed and some advice is given for scientific use and management of marine diesel engine.
