Objective To study the expression of Twist and Snail in cervical squamous cancer and their relationship with angiogenesis. Methods Expression of Twist and Snail was detected in 60 cases of cervical squamous cancer tissue by immunohistochemistry.CD34 marking vascular endothelial cell was used to measure the microvascular density(MVD).Results The positive Twist expression was 88.3% in cervical squamous cancer, and the positive Snail was 78.3%. The positive group of Twist and Snail protein had higher MVD than that in negative group(P〈0.05). There was a significant correlation between the expressions of Twist and Snail in cervical squamous cancer(P〈0.05).Conclusion The overexpression of Twist and Snail protein were found in cervical squamous cancer.Their co-expression could contribute to the invasion and metastasis in human cervical squamous cancer. They were valuable molecular markers to be used for monitoring the disease.
