Objective To study the efficacy and safety of Shexiang Baoxin pills in the treatment of unstable angina pectoris in the elderly. Methods Seventy-six elderly patients with unstable angina pectoris in our hospital were randomly divided into observation group (38 cases) and control group (38 cases). All the patients received conventional treatment, the observation group was treated with Shexiang Baoxin pills on the basis of conventional treatment for 12 months. The effects of after 1 year's treatment, the levels of Hcy and Hs-CRP before and after treatment; the incidence of cardiac events and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P〈0.05). The level of Hcy in the observation group after treatment for 6 and 12 months were significantly lower than those in the control group (P〈0.05), the level of Hs-CRP in the observation group after treatment for 12 months was significantly lower than that in the control group (P〈0.05). The angina readmission rate in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P〈0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P〉0.05). Conclusion Shexiang Baoxin pills is effective in the treatment of unstable angina pectoris in elderly patients. It can effectively reduce the levels of Hcy and Hs-CRP, decrease the risk of long-term cardiac events, and have good tolerability. It has high clinical value.
