Analysis of the Tragic Color of The Portrait of a Lady and Female Discourse Right from Cross-cultural Perspective

美国小说家亨利·詹姆斯的《贵妇画像》从出版就一直广泛受到文学界的讨论和关注,相关的专家也分别从不同的角度研究了这部作品中的女主人公伊莎贝尔。基于此,尝试通过一个全新视角,即跨文化视角,来对其进行分析,首先阐述女主人公伊莎贝尔自身个性导致悲剧命运的必然发生,其次研究了《贵妇画像》中的文化解读和女性的话语权,进而在作品中获得一定的启示。

American novelist Henry James＇s The Portrait of a Lady has been widely discussed by and draws attention from the liter- ary world since its publication, and the relevant experts have studied the heroine Isabel in this work from different angles. This article tries to analyze it from a new perspective, that is, the cross-cultural perspective, and first explains the inevitable occurrence of the tragic fate of the heroine Isabel＇s own personality, studies the cultural interpretation and the female discourse right, and then obtains some inspiration from the work.
