Gulliver＇ s Travels is one of the representative works of Jonathan Swift. At that time, the author reflects the distorted view of the world by the magic , critical and ironic writing style. The plot of the novel is fantastic and it has obvious characteristics of magic realism. It performance the image of the nature of human beings and the false image of intellectuals in the shadow of the ugly society. Human beings have been longing for the ＂ideal country＂ since they have the ability to think independently. The enlightenment in eighteenth Century played a role in promoting in the creation of Gulliver＇ s Travels. With the help of the situation of the Gulliver, the author criticizes the hypocrisy and ignorance of human beings under the influence of the absurd society. The author hopes to restore the nature of good reason, and to build a bright and harmonious society.
