The history of the lacquer development shows that non -governmental forces always indomita- bly played their own roles. From area of Jin merchants to Hedong, each kind of lacquer art expression had their own hrand mark firmly, which is not only the results of regional choice, but also results of historical choice inevitably. As a witness and participant to the lacquer art and lacquer painting in Shanxi, the author reviews the development of Shanxi traditional lacquer art and laequer painting in this paper.
