Senile dedemtia（ SD ） is a systemic disease with complicated etiology and various pathogenesis. TCM believes that SD is a symptom of deficiency. This article analyzes the cause and the pathogenesis of SD from the aspects of the five internal organs and phlegm, in order to provide a theoretical basis for follow-up research.
