David Raphael Wang, nicknamed "Mr Flame-style King" by Ezra Pound, is a prolific translator, poet and critic, and yet has been neglected in the history of Asian/Chinese American literature. He was quite active in American literary circle through 1950s to 1970s. In the past decades, a few scholars have noted the literary relations between Wang and Williams, as well as Wang and Pound; however, his literary achievements as an Asian/Chinese American writer have yet to be rediscovered. The paper is to excavate Wang's pioneering contributions to Asian/Chinese American literature in three aspects: his translation of Chinese poetry into English, his poetic production in English, and his literary criticism and promotion of early Asian/Chinese American literature. Hopefully, it will help the readers know about this pioneer of Asian/Chinese American Literature.
