基于费米尔目的论的材料科学英译汉研究

English-Chinese Translation in Material Science: The perspective of the Skopos Theory

在现代科学技术中,材料科学是国民经济发展的三大支柱之一,相应学科专业的翻译工作越来越受到重视。基于此,本文分析了材料科学与工程英语的特点,分析了费米尔的目的法则是如何指导译者生产出高质量的、更符合受众需求的译文。此外,通过案例分析,表明目的论的指导性在对材料科学与工程英语汉译中相比其它翻译理论更具有优势。

Material science is one of the three pillars in modern science and technology that contributes to the development of national economy. Translation of research works on material science has attracted increasing attention. This article analyses the features of the English language used in Materials Science and Engineering, and discusses how Vermeer＇ s Skopos theory can be used to help translators produce high quality translations that meet the needs of the audience. We demonstrate via a case analysis that the Skopos theory is very useful as a guide in translating English texts of Materials Science and Engineering.
