摘要
矿业工程英语作为科技英语的一个子集,在当今我国矿业快速发展、国际学术交流中扮演着日益重要的角色。它具有词汇专业性强、多用名词化结构、语篇逻辑性强等特点。本文试引用美国翻译学家奈达的功能对等理论,分词汇、语句和语篇三部分进行矿业工程英语翻译实践与研究,得出的启示:一方面,要提升个人专业素养,充分把握所译词句的具体意思;另一方面,要结合汉语习惯,适当意译,提高读者的阅读体验,方便读者的信息获取。
As a subset of science and technology English, English for mineral engineering plays an increasingly more important role in the rapid growth of the China' s mining industry. English for mineral engineering is known for its special terminologies, nominalization structures and logic. Applying Nida' s Functional Equiva- lence Theory, this article discusses the practice and theory of translating English for mineral engineering at lexi- eal, syntactical and textual level. It is concluded that on one hand, the translator should improve his profession- al quality and fully comprehend the source text; on the other, the translator should consider the special features of the Chinese language and adopt a translation method with certain latitude, so as to provide the reader with a better reading experience and help them obtain the information they need.
