The article introduced the PCT applications state of coatings from 2005 to 2016. Combined with a specific PCT international search report of a whole A case, the retrieval strategies, retrieval databases, retrieval results and communication with the applicants of European and American Patent Offices were analyzed. This article summed up the examination experiences of other patent offices, and helped to improve the examination efficiency of the State Intellectual Property Office.
