A Local Grammar Approach to Evaluative Language

本文采用语料库语言学的局部语法路径,并参照系统功能语言学的评价系统,建构英语评价局部语法。局部语法是对表达特定语义功能的语言实例的兼具功能和语法描述的分析模式,其分析术语是以语言在实际语境中的交际功能为依据的,因此其在本质上属于功能语法分析的范畴。本研究表明,评价局部语法能更为直观、系统、全面地描述评价语言。本文对评价局部语法的探讨也可为从局部语法视角探究其他语言功能的语法描写提供借鉴和启示。

This study, drawing on insights from the corpus-linguistic concept of local grammar and the systemic-functional framework of Appraisal, aims to develop a local grammar of evaluation. Local grammar brings together functional and grammatical analysis. It analyses each linguistic unit in terms that are directly related to its discoursal or communicative functions, and hence it is in essence a functional approach to linguistic description. The study shows that local grammars can provide a more comprehensive description of evaluative language in that local grammar descriptions are more transparent, consistent and systematic. Further, the study also offers insights into investigations of other pragmatic functions from a local grammar perspective.
