This paper, by adopting the methodology of qualitative research and case study and by taking the concept of cultural presupposition as its starting point, conducts multi-dimensional analyses on the English translation of Shanhai Jing, the locus classicus for ancient Chinese myths. It proposes that the traveling of Chinese mythology cannot be limited to interlingual translation of classical texts alone, but should be consciously integrated with intralingual translation, intertextual rewriting within the source language and intersemiotic translation under a multi-modal narrative system thus forming a dynamic intertextual space to promote the multi-modal intertextual reconstruction and transmission of Chinese mythology abroad collaboratively.
